The Kinetic MREX Modular Receiver Extension is designed to be simple, durable and lightweight. The MREX's slim profile greatly improves the SCAR's aesthetics by giving it a long, sleek profile. It lengthens the length of the rail at the front and the front sight/gas block increases the modularity of the rifle. By increasing the space for accessories, the front grip or other tactical accessories can be installed, improving the overall balance of the rifle and making it more ergonomic. MREX is a one-piece construction, which ensures maximum durability without any noticeable weight penalty.
Compared with version 4.9, this version 4.25 has more M-Lok slot positions, and 2-point lock and 10-point lock positions are added as new mounting positions and to shield gas pipes. The MK2 has the ideal downward tilt in front of the front folding sight like the MREX, but not the M1913. The 12 o'clock lock position of the traditional M1913 has been replaced by an M-Lok socket, allowing for more mounting options.
